Where the marks go in angles and geometry
Angles in figures is one of the heaviest topics by marks in P6 papers. PSLE puts two shapes together, a parallelogram with an isosceles triangle or a rhombus with an equilateral one, and hides the step in the join.
The mistakes this paper looks for
- Assuming a triangle is isosceles when no sides are marked equal
- Using the wrong pair of angles in a parallelogram
- Forgetting that the angles on a straight line add up to 180 degrees

Paper 1, Question 12 (2 marks). In triangle ABC, AB = AC and ∠BAC = 70°. BC is extended to D. Find ∠ACD.

∠ABC = ∠ACB = (180° − 70°) ÷ 2 = 55° (base angles of an isosceles triangle)
∠ACD = 180° − 55° = 125° (angles on a straight line)
