The report after Paper 2
- Scores for Paper 1, Paper 2 and the total out of 100, with the PSLE Achievement Level band it would be, as a guide a year early.
- The focus topic, skill by skill, apart from every other topic in the paper.
- What we diagnosed: the misconceptions behind the wrong answers, the long questions where later parts were lost, and anything left blank.
- How to improve: three things to work on, and every question with its correct answer.
The score is shown to everyone. The full diagnosis is shown on screen and emailed once a parent gives an email address and mobile number, used only to send the report and follow up about it.

Common questions about the free P5 papers
Are these P5 Maths papers really free?
Yes. Every paper can be sat in full and the score is shown the moment Paper 2 is handed in. A parent can also have the full diagnosis emailed by giving an email address, a mobile number and the child's name and school.
What format are the P5 papers in?
The PSLE format, which almost all P5 end-of-year papers now use. Paper 1 has 18 multiple choice questions and 12 short answers for 50 marks, without a calculator. Paper 2 has 5 short answers and 10 structured questions of 3 to 5 marks for 50 marks, with a calculator.
How hard are the free P5 papers?
They are set at the level of a hard P5 end-of-year paper, with tricky multiple choice and a hard last three questions in Paper 2, as top schools set them. Each paper puts 29 of its 100 marks on one topic that P5 pupils often lose marks on.
Do the papers include P6 topics?
No. Every question is within the 2021 MOE syllabus up to P5. Ratio, algebra, average and circles are P6 topics, and so are finding a length or a height from a volume and angles in a figure made of a quadrilateral and another shape, so they are left out. Pie charts are taught in P4, so they can appear. For P6, see the free PSLE Maths papers.
How long does a paper take?
In the PSLE format, Paper 1 takes 1 hour 10 minutes and Paper 2 takes 1 hour 20 minutes. Here the papers are untimed, like homework, and answers save as they are typed, so a paper can be finished across a few sittings.
Who writes and marks the papers?
Wei Jie, who runs AL1 Top Online Tuition's crash courses, writes every question to the MOE syllabus and checks every answer by computer. Papers are marked the same way the course students' papers are.
20 seats. One paper a day.
November to December is the P3 to P5 syllabus, for children entering P6: one full paper a day, marked before class, and a report to parents every night.
