What P6 WA2 Maths tests
WA2 is the Term 2 weighted assessment in Primary 6. Each school sets its own, so there is no official list. So I read seven 2025 P6 WA2 papers from top schools, every page and every answer key, and counted where the marks went.
Where the marks go
Every part of every question, 380 marks across the seven papers, sorted by topic.

Volume, average and data tables appeared only in the two full-length papers. The five shorter WA2 papers were almost entirely circles, percentage, angles, ratio and whole numbers.
What stands out
Circles define WA2
Circles is not in WA1 and carries the most marks in WA2. It is rarely a bare circle: a quarter circle on a square, a semicircle on a rectangle, a ring. The perimeter is the harder half, because the child must decide which edges are on the boundary.
Percentage runs backwards
Given the price after a discount, find the price before. Some papers chain two of these in one question, and some change the total partway through so the second percentage is of a different whole.
Angles carry real marks
Isosceles triangles inside squares, parallelograms beside rhombuses, folded paper. Often a structured question of 3 to 5 marks with several steps and no angle marked as equal.
Algebra is light
Four questions in seven papers, all asking a child to write an expression or substitute a value. None asked for an equation to be solved. Answer keys often use letters for units, but that is the marker's working, not the question.
There is no single WA2 shape
Five of the seven were a single paper of 11 to 20 questions, worth 30 to 55 marks. Two were full mock examinations with a Paper 1 and a Paper 2, worth 100 marks, and both were in the PSLE format used up to 2025, because they were set for children sitting the 2025 PSLE.
So the useful preparation is by topic, not by paper. Practise the four big topics until they are automatic, and practise at the length of a full PSLE paper, which is what the children who sit PSLE from 2026 will meet. See the PSLE Maths format from 2026.
How to prepare in the March holidays
- Circles first. Composite figures, perimeter and area asked separately, with both 22/7 and 3.14.
- Percentage backwards. From the price after to the price before, then two steps of it.
- Angles with reasons. Name the fact at each step: isosceles, parallel lines, angles in a quadrilateral.
- Ratio with a change. Before and after, with one quantity that does not move.
